I see there's not much love for Cultosaurus Erectus, but its my favorite BOC album. I like every song on that album. If you like classic FM rock, its quite a nice ride.

I think of CE being quite a return to form after the poppier albums (in which I include Spectres and Agents)...

CE is one of my favorite BOC albums. I think it's their best album out of studio albums 5-8 (Spectres, Mirrors, CE and Fire of Unknown Origin).

I saw them on this tour with Sabbath at Memorial Stadium in Seattle back in the Summer of '80. Good times.

They have some good twists and turns in their music. A good path to prog, without being that prog. They Rock. Go see them live if you can. I have seen them a ton of times, and even though they are not getting any younger, they still smoke live and always kill it. Buck still shreds!

I have a very good ummmmm live recording of Yes where they used laser's which was at a show in NJ in 1976. This was from a soundboard and the announcers mentioned it. They also mentioned seeing Larry Fast in the audience. He pops up at a lot of shows doesn't he?

Interesting………for me “Agents” has always been a bit of a conundrum. It was one of the band’s most successful albums and is highly regarded by fans. It also contains “Don’t Fear The Reaper” which is arguably one of the classic rock tracks of all time by anybody. But…….as a whole I have never really warmed up to the album that much and think it is one of the band’s weaker efforts. I just pulled it out and listened to it again recently and I still like many of the band’s other albums a lot better.

Really? I guess I'll have to check out some of their other stuff then, especially the first three. I do like AoF though. I think it's a pretty solid album although not on the level as the first Boston. I do think "ETI (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)" is probably one of the greatest "deep tracks" of all time. Why it was hardly if ever played on classic rock radio is something I'll never understand. I think I might even like it better than "don't fear the reaper."

Well, according to Eric Bloom, the FDA coming after them, absolutely was not an urban legend. I remember a few years back seeing an interview on VH-1 where he said they followed them around for a couple weeks, then pretty much cited them for whatever infractions they had been committing on a nightly basis.

I only own the Don't Fear The Reaper best of compilation and every single time I play it the thing totally and completely kicks my ass. I then remind myself to check out more albums, but there is rarely anything in the BOC section (if they have one) at retail other than the compilation I own and I always forget at Amazon. Then the cycle repeats itself the next time I play the compilation or the next time a track pops up on shuffle.

Well, this is corporate logic here, but my understanding is the idea is that "people don't want to listen to music that don't recognize", and in the case of this particular band, there's really only three songs that people "recognize". But I think this thread has given me an idea or two of things to play on this week's Journey Of The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Love "Cultosaurus". There are a few weaker tracks on it, but overall I think it is one of the band's better efforts.

I have two BOC albums ... Cultosaurus and Fire of Unknown Origin. And oddly enough, I love the latter more than the former. "Joan Crawford," despite its silly lyrics, kicks ass, "Don't Turn Your Back" reminds me of current-era Rush in a GOOD way, the title song has a catchy-as-hell chorus. It's the album I always turn to when I want a BOC fix.

BOC was my favorite band for a number of years. Still love 'em, but Eric and Donald have (in my eyes) turned the band into a joke. They are the stereotypical county fair/casino oldies circuit band, trotting out the hits and not recording anything new since 2001.

Blue Coupe is where it's at for me now. Joe Bouchard, Albert Bouchard and Dennis Dunaway. Two original (and vital) BOC members and an original Alice Cooper member. They are working on their second album now. Joe and Albert have stayed quite busy over the past couple of decades, recording new materials with various groups, apart and together. They have just as many classic BOC members as the official BOC. Albert and Joe may not have written the "big 3" hits, but they did co-write Astronomy, as well as writing many of the best classic era tunes.

I believe it was SteveSly who said that Agents is not one of his favorite BOC albums. I totally agree. I like it, but it is somewhere between mid-pack and the bottom on my BOC list. If not for Reaper causing so many people to buy and thus become familiar with Agents, I don't think it would be so well regarded compared to the rest of their catalogue.

I never got the Mirrors hate. Any album with a song as great as The Vigil is worth buying. I dig the rest of the album, as well. Fits right in with the rest of that era for me.

Club Ninja? Yeah, I like it. When the War Comes is killer, even with the "Ooga-chaka" vocal bit.

Cultosaurus, Fire and Spectres have all taken turns as my favorite over the years.

Some of my other favorite BOC cuts are Vengeance (The Pact), Monsters, I Love The Night, Golden Age of Leather, Nosferatu, Flaming Telepaths, Unknown Tongue, Screams/She's As Beautiful As A Foot, Wings Wetted Down, Then Came The Last Days of May (from On Your Feet...), Real World, The Old Gods Return, In The Presence of Another World, Take Me Away...ok I could make this a really long list.

I think it was SteveSly (again) who mentioned the Martin Popoff book, BOC: Secrets Revealed. I totally second that book. It is not just some Behind The Music style gossip rag, it is mainly about the songs throughout the vast BOC catalogue. Who wrote each song and why. It really is written for people who love the music of BOC rather than those looking for a lurid tell-all tome. His Rush Under Pressure book is also quite good.

Well, without a doubt, BOC have the coolest song and album titles of any band out there! Of the several albums I own, Tyranny and Mutation, Secret Treaties and Fire of Unknown Origin are my favorites. Cultasaurus and Agents of Fortune are a notch below. I don't have any of the other ones, although I may pick 'em up if I see 'em at a used vinyl show that hits these parts a couple of times per year.

I've never been a fan until recently; they're clicking now. anyway, when I hear "O.D.d on Life Itself" I keep expecting to hear "Saturday night I went downtown/working for the FBI". it's great guitar riff, regardless.
