Same here, love the original version of No Time.

I also like the 2 albums with Domenic Troiano on guitar, Flavours and Power in the Music

lovely tune, but attracting a very different audience.
Yes, he became more of a crooner in his solo years, and some might argue borderline schmaltz. But if one can take the mellower stuff, it's really really great.

In the early days they did a cover Shakin' All Over. Man, that sounded great on the radio and it was so different from all the other AM hits. I remember being in the car with my dad and I dared to reach over and boost the volume when that song came on. Dad reset the volume when it was over.
    I remember tomorrow

How did it compare to the Who's Live at Leeds version?

I really enjoy Stewart/Gaskin's Shakin' All Over from Hour Moon and Shaking All Over [2001 Rough Mix] from the TLG Commemorative CD

As I said, I never really understood how that (Shaking All Over) became a TGW hit, since it was a Chad Allan Reflection thingie.I mean , it doesn't sound anything like TGW.
A bit like Whiter Shade Of Pale was a Paramount hit before being transfered to Procol.

But I really like it (Shaking All Over).

    ==================

Having seen the two TV broadcast, it's clear that Cummings was no Jim Morrison on stage.

I vaguely remember seeing the band on stage, but TBH, I wouldn't be able to say exactly or precisely where, when and who was in the band back then. Most likely late 70's. I'd have to guess Kale & Peterson were there, probably Burton (but not sure), but I'd remember for sure if Bachman had been there.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

Don't know where you heard this. Brooker and Reid did not start writing together until after the Paramounts had split. The Paramounts certainly never recorded or performed "Whiter Shade." (However, it is true that the Paramounts were still together when Brooker and Reid first met--Wikipedia has this wrong.)

Bachan left early, right after American Woman came out, I believe.

If it was late 70's, he would have probably seen one of the first "fake" bands that Kale ran after he got rights to the name, without Cummings or Bachman. I understand Kale has had health problems and rarely appears with the band anymore, but he continued setting up tours, usually with Peterson on drums.

Kale has not been part of the touring band for several years now. Rudy Sarzo, of all people, replaced him for a while, but he has moved back to Quiet Riot, so not sure who their current bass player is.

New album "Plein D'Amour" on June 30th. The 1st single "The King" is unbelievably good and has received over 50,000 streams on Spotify in 2 months.

I wonder how many of those 50,000 streams thought they would be hearing The Guess Who.

That first video is a bit of a second-rate Queen, IMHO.
Couldn't help but thinking of a second rate American Woman for the second

Those sound NOTHING like the classic band. Calling it "second-rate" is being extraordinarily kind, IMNSHO...

I've always loved this song from the American Woman album. A great vocal performance from Burton in particular, and about as proggy a moment as they ever went near. TALISMAN

Cummings and Bachman are suing this current iteration of The Guess Who. I sure hope they win.

    https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...ark-1234863424

Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman have sued fellow original members Jim Kale and Garry Peterson as well as the band itself, accusing them of misleading fans to believe that the current iteration of the group — which Bachman and Cummings have labeled as “little more than a cover band” — is the original Guess Who.

In a federal suit filed in Los Angeles on Monday and obtained by Rolling Stone, Bachman and Cummings allege that the current lineup — where Peterson is the only current member who was also in the band’s classic era — has used the band’s name, photos of the original lineup, and recordings that Bachman and Cummings performed on “to give the false impression that Plaintiffs are performing as part of the cover band.”

“They’ve taken mine and Randy’s history, the history of the Guess Who, and stolen it to market their cheap ticket sales in their fake bullshit shows,” Cummings tells Rolling Stone. “It takes away everybody’s legitimacy.”

The counts listed in the suit are false advertising, unfair competition, and violation of right of publicity, and Cummings and Bachman are seeking as much as $20 million in damages.

I've also noticed this going on - which is really messed up:

Along with using the original band’s images and recordings to advertise shows, Bachman and Cummings allege that the defendants replaced the original band’s pictures on streaming services including Spotify and Apple Music with the new group “for the purpose of implying that the Cover Band is the Original TGW in an effort to boost the Cover Band’s ticket sales for live performances and to give the false impression that Plaintiffs are performing as part of the Cover Band or have an affiliation with the Cover Band.

“These artist pages intermingle music by the Original TGW with music by the Cover Band, and Defendants in some cases replaced photographs of the Original TGW members with photographs of the Cover Band’s members to further sow confusion that they are the same as the Original TGW,” the suit alleged. “This intermingling of music and use of the Cover Band’s photographs creates the false and misleading impression that the music all comes from the same source.”

My second concert - I was in 8th grade - was The Guess Who (as a five piece, because Randy had just left) and the Grass Roots.

American Woman was definitely my A-number one favorite album for at least a good bit of my 7th grade years.
