Girls scream throughout the audience en masse.

    Or not.

    But the music's good.

I saw Extra Life for the first time last weekend. I am very familiar with Timba Harris and Toby Driver's work. Previously, I wasn't sure exactly what to make of EL. But wow, I'm all-in now.

It was a rare peak experience for me - especially because I didn't know the EL catalog that well. The music is so unusual and complex - constantly surprising - it forced me to stay focused in the moment throughout. I'm sure it's possible to experience some of that euphoric surprise from the recordings, but there's nothing like being bombarded live. I'm still processing it - checking out all the Charlie Looker music, podcasts, lore, etc. It seems like this will be one of the top highlights of my life's musical journey. Possibly a proverbial game changer for me.

I could write paragraphs about all the different ingredients in the compositions, but that seems overindulgent here.
