Yet another Deluxe "Lamb" tease that is probably not accurate

Saw this on the Hoffman Forum in the "New Edition of the Lamb..." thread. Members there have noted that it looks authentic, since it says it's on the Universal label; $56 bucks for 4 CD's, release date April 7th. That soon after the BBC set? I think not... https://www.swiatksiazki.pl/the-lamb...95-muzyka.html

Sorry the link is in Polish; there is a Google translate English option in the Hoffman link that didn't come up in this link.

Also strange since the 45th anniversary was four years ago.

This box might be a possibility in the future, maybe for the 50th in 2024.
Apparently it was on planned for release 2020 but was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Some speculate that the almost complete absence of the 1975 Empire Pool show from the upcoming BBC box is because the rest of the show will be on the Lamb box.

Man, if there is indeed a future Lamb box, I hope they put a lot more "Super" in the "Super Deluxe" edition. Come on, Record Company and Genesis. Give us some goodies.

I would only really be interested if there is a decent stereo remix and it isn't brickwalled to buggery.

While we wait for a super duper deluxe Lamb box, here's something pretty cool I found to listen to in the mean time.

To download it, click on the text below the personnel listing. i.e., the "Live in Los Angeles, Phoenix, ..." text.

Hoffman forum says that the latest issue of Record Collector (out Friday) has an article on TLLDOB that ends by saying that an expanded 50th Anniversary edition will be issued later this year. Rumor or real thing?

If there was ever a time for a boxed set, 50th would be the time. There are goodies unreleased, notable the Wembley show that would certainly pry open my wallet. As a card carrying skeptic, it goes against my nature, but I’m going with ‘real thing’ this time.

It is stated on the Webpage linked above: "Assembled by Youtuber RockIsDeadTheySay from original soundboard audio without studio overdubs". I just started listening and it sure sounds like the 48 year old Peter Gabriel singing on portions of the title track, i.e. not the original vocal.

If they do release it, I hope it includes a 24/96 version on Blu Ray Audio discs. AFAIK, only Selling England by the Pound has been released this way.

i hope so too. If they do a new multi-channel mix on Blu-Ray with Atmos (and provided they don't spoil it with brickwalled mastering), a Deluxe Edition of The Lamb on Blu-Ray could be a "slam dunk". And you're right, Selling England by the Pound is the only Genesis album to come out on Blu-Ray Audio so far.

Oh, I second that. His work on recent VdGG (archival and The Bath Forum Concert) and Hawkwind stuff has been excellent. I like most of Wilson’s mixes (be it stereo or 5.1); I’ve liked all of Tayler’s.
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.

S.W. Tayler would be great. His work with the Hawkwind, VdGG, camel sets are exemplary

Wilson and Tayler seem to have different philosophies regarding the stereo mixes. Wilson is more "conservative" in that he mostly attempts to clean up the original sound. Tayler makes more substantial changes to the sound. Neither is better than the other--it's a matter of taste. My ears prefer Wilson's mixes, but I respect other people's ears.

So they're actually going to release a new stereo and 5.1 remix ?
I know of the controversies over Nick Davis's remixes, yet this seems unnecessary to me. The bonus content needs to be really good for me to buy this. Did I hear about a previously unreleased Wembley concert from the Lamb tour?

So, the word is that this new edition is happening but it is essentially a reissue of the botched 2007 mix plus a vaguely tinkered with version of the previously released Shrine show.

    Tony Banks thinks it's great.

When the suggestion was made that the 2007 mixes were too loud he suggested people should turn their volume down.

    You couldn't make it up.

It wasn't just the way the 2007 remix sounded, I found several of the tracks like "Back in NYC" and "Slippermen" suffered from radical additions or subtractions.

My only hope is that the live show features all the "original" vocals, which you'd think could be done with modern technology.

The one advantage of a reissue is that it will probably come out on Blu-ray. Not too many people have SACD players these days (besides OCD audiophiles like me).
