^ He was one of the all-time greats, Ed. No need to wonder about that.

I think Jackson is getting some bum advise, probably from the players union, who have in the past pressured players to take deals from other teams, whether they wanted to move or not, just because it would advance the pay scale. I think a lot of teams' owners see what type of hangovers teams like Rams and Buccaneers have for having a price no object approach to "winning now".

I think they need to do away with the guaranteed money or no more than a % of your contract.

IMO, the only guaranteed money should be related to inability to play or perform competitively because of injury, even if that is an annuity for life. Otherwise, players should get money based on performance with a baseline. Players and the NFL have forgotten who the customer is.

No one is forcing teams to offer guaranteed contracts.

I thought you guys were capitalists? Don't you think they should get whatever someone is prepared to pay them?

So you are okay with players holding teams hostage like Lamar Jackson. The Ravens don't know who to sign or draft because of the Jackson fiasco. The Ravens drafted him when nobody else wanted him and molded the team for his benefit and offered him a contract anybody would have taken and he is too stupid to realize how good he has it. There was an article where they compared him to Josh Allen and Allen was head and shoulders above Jackson in his performance. Then you have talking heads like Stephen Smith yelling the Ravens have to pay the brother and they are disrespecting him, and Jackson believes what he hears. I with someone would disrespect me with 200 million dollars.

I am and it should be pay per game, per team and per player, based on performance. As it is now the NFL has monopoly on power and owners can collaborate.

Actually pure capitalism and socialism become the same thing, totalitarian which is not capitalism or socialism, one wins, we lose. The discussion about capitalism is sophomoric. The NFL is near the end state of capitalism.

How about this? A player signs with a team for , say, four years. This is in essence then 4 one year deals. After year one, if the player has a banner all pro year, he gets a significant raise for year two.
If he plays sub par, he takes a cut the following year. Cycle repeats three times. Four, if the player resigns after year four.

    Sounds good to me.

At 7-feet, defensive tackle Richard Sligh is the tallest player to ever play professional football.

He only played one season, but he made it a good one as his 1967 Oakland Raiders would go on to win the AFL Championship.

Ravens sign Beckham, now they need a quarterback to throw to him.

Are you sure? I’ve seen so many BS titles of YT videos that say the same thing even though it’s click bait. Speaking of bait, how about the hypothesis that Beckham is a statement to Lamar, if you don’t comeback you will miss having this target, not to mention the Ravens may have another QB that can hook Beckham better.

I thought about buying them but came up about 5 1/2 billion short, and the traffic sucks in DC.

The Eagles have made Jalen Hurts the highest-paid player in NFL history, signing him to a five-year, $255 million extension, including $179.3 million guaranteed.

Take that Lamar, and rumor has it that Lamar wants OBJ and DeAndre Hopkins.
