I was at the NYC presentation and it was a packed house. Just a couple hundred shy of a sell out. Tons of merch - hoodies, shirts, playing cards, posters, etc. Live Nation is producing this “tour” and they are treating it like a concert.
That being said, it was a real good time. The first half was a discussion that included lots of early stories about him getting kicked out of Rush, his Jewish background, and some great Alex stories. Also read a chapter of the book that focused on late-70s Rush. The second half of the show opened with him reading another chapter, this one focused on his mom and how he got his name. He also spent a lot of time answering submitted questions, which he did very thoughtfully and with a lot of humor. And it all wrapped up with a preview of his upcoming paramount tv show.
What artwork did the shirts and stuff have on them, and what was the venue for the show? Glad it was a good turnout.
Venue was the Beacon Theater. Art on everything were various photos of Geddy. One shirt was the front book cover photo, another was Geddy playing the bass and caught mid-jump, and another had sort of an abstract drawing of a face
I'd really like to go, but treating it like a concert, clearly means concert pricing, so I don't think that it's going to happen.

"Gone" and "I Am... You Are" were originally written for his 2000 solo effort "My Favourite Headache," but they didn't end up on the album. Lee came across them while sifting through the archives for his upcoming memoir "My Effin' Life." He shined them up, added new elements to finish them off and said he plans to release both on Tuesday as part of the audiobook version of his memoir, out the same day. His representatives say a digital and streaming release will follow.
So, unless you get the audio version of the book today, you'll have to wait for the digital downloads. What about all of us that preordered the book!? Grrr.

My GF just called. She's a pharmacist, at an independent pharmacy in Philly's Main Line. I often refer to her as the "Pharmacist to the Stars," as many "famous" people in the Philly area use her pharmacy - surgeons, judges, TV personalities, athletes, etc.
She was calling because the owner of The Met theater was just in and dropped off a bunch of tickets for various events as a thank you for their services. Among them, two free box tickets to tomorrow's Geddy Lee show, which apparently no one else wanted. One person didn't even know who he is.
So....I'M GOING!! YAY! FOR FREE!!!

Got the book today. Loads of pics, many we've seen before but more we haven't, 500 pages, this is a quality work, I couldn't help but skip near the end to read about Neil, so sad but looking forward to a long deep read with this.
I am currently finishing Rick Emmit's autobiography. Looking forward to Geddy's next.

Rush was and is 'my band' growing up and I'd never miss them or something like this (a reading from Neil would have been maybe the top thing ever) BUT I too balked at the $119 - $147 prices and it hurt me, not buying a ticket
but ALAS! my inner kid gave in and I just said I need to go to this and so I went to a secondary market and bought a $147.50 ticket for . . . $37.50. 2 of them
shittily enough, I determined that these same 2 seats were also being sold on LiveNations site for list price
wtf and fuck the ticket industry
for shits and giggles my partner and I looked at our purchase sites remaining seats just :15 before showtime and there were the same seats but the section over for $9. nine effin' dollars
the show was undersold here. very top section curtained off and the very rear of the floor covered up
still, the crowd there gave our hero a great welcome and Ged gave us a great night of stories, laughs and some tears. for the Rush freak it doesn't get better these days. he even went into some of the insular Rush jargon and meanings of their nicknames etc (a question about the mythical 'Shreve')
Billions showrunner and write Brian Koppelman was our moderator and he was sincerely stoked to be there
there was indeed a book handout AND the special tour only insert booklet with different photos and an extra chapter
