I love the title, so I hope they keep it. The photo on the cover is also great. I think it’s pretty interesting that such a prominent publisher is putting it out. I’m sure they snapped it up, and Geddy probably earned a tidy sum. A lot of rock biographies are published by much smaller houses, so this is pretty cool. I hope when it comes out Geddy does some interviews. And maybe some book signings? That would be awesome to meet him for a few seconds!
From what I understand, the title is a direct play on a quote by one of his surviving relatives or parents who actually used to refer to life in general as a "[...] fucking" such due to the fact that their entire larger kindred of heritage were wiped out during the Shoah in Europe. And this became a slur with the young Ged as he grew adolescent and self-aware. Rather bollocks to see your drummer's lyrics interpreted as being "fascist" by certain calls in the music press during the late 70s when most of your ancestral latitude had been evaporated by that very same measure a few decades previously.

"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
Yesterday I had a conversation for a podcast, about me having had a lesson from Alan Parsons.
I had a great conversation with the guy, about Rush and King Crimson, 2 bands he loved. He even had a copy of heroes signed by Robert Fripp.
His first concert was Rush in Paradiso. He couldn't remember much from the second half of the concert, because he was high from the weedsmoke from the concertgoers. When I told him there would be an autobiography by Geddy Lee, he said he would buy it. He had interviewed Lee Peart who was a really nice guy.
So yesterday was great. Finally having a conversation on music with someone who didn't give me a blanc stare when I mentioned certain groups.
Two things I'm hoping to get some anecdotes about in the book because I've never seen anything mentioned by the band members --1. playing the cards-and-dice board game Strat-o-matic Baseball. Years ago someone from the game company confirmed that Ged was a customer, not surprising considering his love of baseball...2. Renting ice rinks during the Hemispheres tour for after-show pickup games of hockey. I read this in some music publication back in the day but have never seen any pics or anecdotes. When they came to Nassau Coliseum on Long Island on the tour, I sent a letter to management inviting them to rent the rink in my town 15 minutes away, and I would be happy to join them since you always need a goalie in pickup games. Didn't get a response. How awesome it would have been to say I played hockey with Rush and their road crew...

iTunes lists Geddy as the narrator of the audiobook. I wonder if he’ll sing some of the text…perhaps just a word here and there.
Fuckin' pre-ordered! Very excited to read this one!

He's doing an arena book tour, but the ticket prices are way above what my budget would allow. Very disappointing.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Great article about Geddy in The Athletic this morning...
https://theathletic.com/5022106/2023...ll-collection/
It is a subscription site, but I do not know if they give a free read or two...wonderful article. I would love to grab a beer (or, in his case, a glass or three of wine) with him and just listen to the stories.
Sorry, but, as much as I like Geddy, that's a blatant cash grab and beneath him. No surprise tickets sales are bad.
"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
Montreal Place des Arts tickets are ranging from $114 - $224 and not surprisingly, about only half the theater has been sold with 13 days to go.
First, not interested. Second, I met Geddy in person when he did the BBBB book signing in Halifax, a pleasure to meet the guy I admire.
So book, meet & greet for the same price for the Fucking life book conversation from the stands.
And third, I am going to see Sarah Brightman Live that same evening in Laval (those tickets are going for about 40% less, a no brainer).
I have never seen Sarah who is a musical gem and is on my bucket list. No money grab there.
