How the fuck is that “beside the point”? The point, according to Rhino themselves, is to offer an entry-level collection of Yes’s music for a new audience. Serving up a drastically truncated version of their biggest ‘70s hit, one of the two songs that the newbie fan probably already knows, seems like a good way to leave that listener feeling shortchanged.

I think the Ultimate Yes 35th Anniv set does a fairly good job of covering their material up to Magnification (though it's light on later material).
Maybe a revised version of that album that deletes the mostly unnecessary 3rd disc and replaces it with a 3rd disc that fleshes out the later material better, and covers up through Mirror to the Sky would be a good "concise" Yes.
The 5cd In A Word box is also good, and includes some longer epic type tracks that the 3 disc Ultimate can't. Maybe a 6th disc addition to that set (or a standalone disc for that matter) that covers the 4 1/2 studio albums that have come since Magnification would also be good. And also as concise as you're gonna get covering Yes.
You can get the track list from Highlights The Very Best Of Yes down to a somewhat vinyl friendly 45 minutes if you cut “Survival”, “Time And A Word”, “Going For The One” and “Rhythm Of Love” with no edited tracks except for “Soon” though I’ve never been a fan of “Long Distance Runaround” without “The Fish” right after.
Yes isn’t a singles band so why try to present them to folks as something they really aren’t?
How about short singles for short attention spans?

I have the DVD of The Residents' Commercial Album. 40 original videos to go with the songs, much better than just listening to the album.

I'm already familiar with the Wyatt and Frith tracks. Many of the others are fascinating - will seek it out. Even if you don't like one or two of the tracks, they're short enough to get past them.
