Possible artists to check if you like darkambient/electroacoustic/heavy industrial

Tons of live shows happening in Chicago-tomorrow will be Soft Machine but, last Friday I saw these three artists live.

Posting here because some of you may know these artists or generally interested in the style of music

    post doom romance-dark ambient/drone

Barbara Ellison-acousmatic/electroacoustic with nods to Alvin Lucier's "I'm sitting in a Room" as well as Carl Stone (off the top of my head)

Francisco López-been around a long time and has a ton of music available digitally. Heavy, loud and ego stripping!

All three have a bandcamp presence so you can grab stuff or listen there.

Here are my thoughts on the live show:

I thought the Soft Machine concerts were rescheduled to 2024.
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

I could've sworn I had something from Francisco López in my collection but apparently not! Will definitely check out later. As always, thanks for the tip!
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Also, Ephemeral Sun: it's a thing and we like making things that might be your thing: https://ephemeralsun.bandcamp.com

    Not all:

    Dear Friends in Music
Due to visa issues (applied back in z June), MoonJune Music and Soft Machine had to cancel 14 shows on the Other Doors North American tour (USA visa delay affected also all Canadian dates, where visa it’s not needed) and not only that, for unknown reasons Freddy Baker’s visa entry was denied. The most amazing NYC based Uruguayan multi-instrumentalist Beledo will fill up Freddy’s bass shoes.

Both MoonJune and Soft Machine are seriously affected by loss of income and out-bloody-rageous visa expenses.

We hope to be able to buy a few slices of pizza in NYC at the end of the tour.

USA dates of Soft Machine, starting tonight in the Detroit suburban neighborhood of Westland.
October 20 - Detroit, MI (Token Lounge)
October 22 - Milwaukee, WI (Shank Hall)
    October 24 - Chicago, IL (Reggie's)
October 25 - Cincinnati, KY (The Ludlow Garage)
October 26 - Indianapolis, IN (Irving Theater)
October 28 - New York City, NY (The Iridium)
October 29 - New York City, NY (The Iridium)

Stay tuned for an update on 45-50 new North American dates in June/July (west of Mississippi) and September and October (east of Mississippi and Eastern Canada).

Continuing on the live electronic music going's on's in Chicago, another great show happened last Saturday, Marja Ahti... a sound artist from Finland doing a rare performance in the states. Another great one... she recently had a release come out on Oren Ambarchi's Black Truffle label. if you are so inclined, more short thoughts on the show:

And another phenomenal nite of live electronic music. William Basinski and Claire Rousay.

John Battema, I think you would have ate this up big time!

For the darker side of Ambient, many of Kit Watkins’ later solo albums were quite dark and ambient.

Seen and enjoyed both, albeit separately Did Basinski talk at all? He did a post show chat for us and it was a hoot.

hey man---STone has been a favorite of mine for the last several months. Here is a great Bandcamp guide to his music. The three archival releases that span his entire career are essential if you are a fan.

Ah, thanks for the link! "Shing Kee" is one of his personal favorites (mine, too); That was the first piece of his that I heard. Played it in my electronic music class at UT Austin 15 or 20 years ago and everybody loved it!

Saw Cheer-Accident last night so, this link has bunch of C-A content about the performance (C-A was a 15 piece ensemble that were definitely getting their Henry Cow ya ya's out) but, i'm putting it in this thread because it was the 40th anniversary show of Illusion of Safety that was a stunning performance along with Hali Palombo, a Chicago(land) based artist who I wasn't familiar with but was amazing! My impressions of the show here (Spoiler: it was one of the "fun-est nites of music ever): https://avantmusicnews.com/2023/11/0...-elastic-arts/

Ooooh, I like the Bastian David, although I'm a little amused that I can't save the video since it's made for kids or something

Also really liking the Åke Parmerud

Not really adhering strictly to the title of this thread but certainly within the same territory:

Chicago based musician Olivia Block recently came out with a new one and once again, a shift in style. On this one, there is a really appealing combo of kit drums, brass and piano crossed with some otherworldly electronics... the latter never overpowering the former and visa versa. There are also some wispy filaments of voice from Olivia which I was hoping for (since she's been developing the sound live for a while now) and got! After only two listens, I'm completely enraptured with the vibe switching from one of majestic natural beauty to some kind of air brushed angelic Da Vinci painting.
