RIP - Frank Howard
One of the most feared sluggers to ever play the game. Gentle giant who once knocked out his Dodger teammate Duke Snider when he hit him with a line drive as Snider led off third base. Guess Duke didn't dodge well! Slugged 382 HR's, leading the league twice. I remember him as A Washington Senator when his nickname was the Capitol Punisher. During a game at the original Yankee Stadium, he hit one out of the Stadium. From my seat, it looked fair. Called foul but still a mighty blast. I couldn't believe that a ball could be hit so hard. A core memory. Managed the Mets and San Diego plus coached the Mets, Yankees during the dark ages of the late 80's early 90's, and a handful of other teams too. RIP Hondo

From back in the day, when home run hitters were fat guys in the mold of Ruth. Another star of my youth gone. 😢
