Dear Prog Bands: I'd Rather Not Hear Adolph Hitler

Maybe you're trying to make a political point or no point or whatever. The sound of his sickening voice makes me want to stop listening to at least that song but possibly the whole album. It sours me.

Is this directed at Supertramp or the obscure First+Aid?

I was just listening to the new album by the band Psicolorama but it has been a problem with the Flower Kings as well. There are other examples that I can't remember because I stop listening.

^ Things like that or the voice of Churchill or JFK, or random, old recordings of people talking are sort of overused background sounds. I know there are bands (such as Supertramp, as mentioned above) that did it when it wasn't overused yet. And sometimes it can still be effective, probably. The sound of the frequency knob on a radio being turned is another one.

I agree with this and the other cliched usages mentioned (JFK, MLK, Churchill, radio noise) although that snippet in Steve Hackett's "A Tower Struck Down" does sound a bit like Dolf's minions are chanting "Steve Hackett!! Steve Hackett!!"
