Thanks for that. The story in the faroutmagazine article seems to have been lifted verbatim from this site. And thanks for pointing me at the http://www.calyx-canterbury.fr/mus/ site - good place to read about all our favorite Canterburians and related folks.

Now I've got to catch up on Blegvad's work with Andy Partridge and such...

I remember Blegvad also said he didn't have the technical skills to play Henry Cow's material. That might be on that site too.

    Yes it was.

Surprised that he was even expected to. What were HC thinking?

They were thinking they wanted Dagmar in the band.

That would be like the Beatles deciding to get Ringo into the group by merging with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.

Perhaps for a while they thought it would be a good idea to incorporate Blegvad and Moore's songwriting, but yes, I have also read that the main idea was that they were interested in adding Dagmar.

Those who ordered the Tom Penaguin-CD though should get it one of these days. I got mine today! Very much in the Hatfield & The North- and National Health-style.

I've been playing Jimmy all morning since I heard the sad news. Here's a set I found about a year ago on BC. Jimmy is all over this.

Family and band members' tributes weren't confirmation enough, thank god for Wikipedia!

Look again - the confirmation is the ondarock.it article (which was identified as the source of the Wikipedia entry).
Plus the Wikipedia deaths page normally doesn't add entries until they are verified.

Finally got around to picking up a copy of Robert Wyatt's 'Different Ever Time' cd set. I have nearly everything on the first cd already - but it provides a very fine 'best of' playlist (even if it does leave out O Caroline). The real treasure, of course, is the set of collaborations on the second cd. I was very pleased with the consistency of this batch - quite jazzy in mood I felt. Well worth getting if you don't have it. The book was a good read a while back too.

Possibly not quite the right place for this...

A lovely short essay - & the news that Robert is doing well is plarticularly heartening, after word came out a few months ago that seemed to suggest he was struggling with his health.
