Speaking of closers, Kenley Jansen got his first ever 2-inning regular season save in the rubber game of the Sox/Royals series.
I heard someone point out that Jansen's standard delivery against almost every batter qualifies as a balk , but they don't call it because he does it consistently, so it isn't unfair to the batter.

He's had a great career, but he makes me nervous if they bring him in with guys on.
I suspect the umps simply decided it's not a balk move. Why would they allow it just because he does it consistently? Like I stated, "No sense." That's no different than allowing a runner to run outside of the base path because he does it all the time. Rules are rules. And I just don't believe that's the case, and whoever made the claim is mistaken. They had the same thing with Andy Pettite. His pickoff move was VERY close to a balk, but not quite. But, he got called once in a while.

I was just saying elsewhere that I think they are a huge improvement. I would dial back the red, but that's just me. They took a more traditional approach, which is quite ironic in light of the meddling over recent years. I think they did a much nicer job.
