Fusion & Jazz Rock from the 70's playlist

    Hello friends,

Another nice playlist i did after many years not listening much to this genre.

    https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6g...d355db2566453e

If you think of something that is not there please let me know....

    Thanks,

    M

You should add in Darryl Dobson, The Mind Electric- it is killer fusion. Here is an example (it really kicks in at around 3 minutes):

Sometimes the repetition goes on for a few measures too many.

BTW, those large playlists are made for me... :-)
I add MANY i heard in the past and then i remove bad tracks while listening.

The idea is not to replace for people their collections BUT to introduce stuff you might not know AND even more interesting for me is to get recommendations here about stuff i don't know: e.g. Darryl Dobson

I was referring to the Dobson recommendation.

Dave, 1994 was the remaster. The original came out in the mid-70s.

On Discogs they list the original as being released in 1986: https://www.discogs.com/master/10391...-Mind-Electric

I honestly am confused. I know I had this on LP long before that. Perhaps he had a different disc. What does discogs say?

    Sancious is a great choice!

YMMV, but some of the early Ponty albums seem like straight jazz to me.
On Electric Connection and maybe earlier, he started putting a mic or a pickup in his violin to be heard better, but it wasn't until King Kong or the Experience record with George Duke that he started doing things that are really considered fusion.

The list is a nice reminder for me to put Sunday Walk on my wishlist.
