It’s a helluva lineup for sure. Really excited about it.

It is a promising line-up - but where are the US bands?
Where's the usual suspects like the Morse, Portnoy, Spocks and Kerzner combo's?
Could there be a CTTE debut for Dream Theater?

It is odd that there is no Portnoy project as he has been on every CTTE in one band or another over the years. Dream Theater has always claimed that they would never play a cruise, but then again so did IQ and they are playing this year so who knows. I think it is also possible that DT could be the pre-show band at the casino. That venue is huge and is about the size of places Dream Theater plays these days.

Morse has played many cruises too, so not sure about him. Kerzner has played the last few so maybe they decided to skip a year with him, but don’t know that. He is local to Florida so could be a backup act waiting in the wings if someone else drops out.

My wife and I are seriously considering going on this cruise. I'm the prog guy ... but the Mrs. is learning to appreciate the music. I'll admit that I'm not too familiar with a number of bands in the line-up. At this point, Steve Hackett and Big Big Train are the major draws for me. The prices are ... staggering ... but we can swing it.

My wife is not into the music much at all, but goes and has a great time. I am familiar with most of the bands and I think this may be the strongest lineup of the years I have been attending.

Portnoy wasn't on the first two, but it would definitely be surprising if he wasn't onboard in some fashion. I've read that Petrucci won't do a boat, so that would be the likely hangup, I suppose. IQ had expressed willingness to go in the past, but with school schedules couldn't do it (that is how I remember seeing it described, anyway). Kerzner has teased an announcement, so I assume it is related?

Edit to add - Larry or someone from OTB had posted the bit about IQ a couple cruises ago as to why they hadn't been on the trip. I was pretty shocked when they were announced - and it got some friends to pull the trigger so that made it even better.

Not in my general wheelhouse, but that is a very good line-up. If I were ever to try one of these out, this would be the one.

One thing that raises an eyebrow for me, is Thank You Scientist. As Sal has stepped aside as the lead vocalist, I wonder what kind of line-up they will have....instrumental? A new singer? A Sal returns one-off?

I wondered the same thing. Their FB page doesn't have any recent activity and I haven't checked elsewhere. They were a really good fit on the 2015 cruise, so whatever their plans are, I look forward to catching them. They've been close to me a few times since, but always when I had a conflict or was away.

Caught TYS during one of their first tours with Coheed in NJ, and after that show, they went to a nearby club for an all-instrumental late-night setlist that was a whole lot of fun. I would not be disappointed if that were the case!

This'll be my first time on CTTE - finally got spousal buy-in after years of pestering. Seems I picked a great first year to go with this lineup!

I don't recall where I saw this, but I read recently that they had a new vocalist. I don't think a name was provided.

We're back so we can get a primer on the bands we aren't familiar with, assuming your charges aren't increasing from last year?
