    Transatlantic - Morsefest 2022

Yeah, I got this monster (5 CDs + 2 Blu-rays + signed by Neal). The book itself is a beauty. Tracks include everything band played during the two evenings: The Whirlwind and Absolute Universe complete suites, assorted tracks from earlier albums plus 'In Held (Twas) In I' cover (a rarity). Band absolutely smokes, even if you consider they recycle same trusted recipe for the 100th time probably. Great artifact to remember them by - probably their most ambitious performance - and the last one too, it seems. I rarely listen to Transatlantic these days, but sometimes I just need some comfort food for the brain and they do deliver.

Innocence and undying love will reign."

I'm listening to the preview of this record on the InsideOut Bandcamp page rn and even though the stream is in relatively low fidelity (128kbps mp3) I'm really impressed by the mix. I wonder who mixed this record. If it's Rich Mouser, then it's his most balanced and non-hyped mix so far. The drums really shine. Excellent.

    EDIT:
The World We Used to Know with a string ensemble sounds so majestic!

Yeah, it's Rich Mouser as head of the production team and Jerry Guidroz for mixing and mastering. All the usual suspects

    A-ha. Jerry Guidroz! So it's a different guy, as I suspected. B)

Well, the last to be released, yes, but their final performance was in Paris, as documented on the Bluray/DVD set released last year.

That's correct, thanks for pointing out

This Transatlantic Morsefest 2022 set, as well as the Paris Blu-ray/Cd set, are both excellent releases to enjoy the Absolute Universe live tour set, especially if this ends up being the last hurrah of this terrific band, side project (call it what you will). I know some here will be disappointed that the 7 Blu-Ray/CD disc set wasn't released in 5.1 digital quality (like the Paris Blu-Ray/cd disc set), but the result is still terrifically done.

Having the pleasure to catch this particular live tour on opening night was a memory that I will never forget. These current live documents are definitely awesome examples of what this tour was like and will be enjoyed for many years to come.

The 5.1 mix in the Flight to Paris is not a big improvement if you enjoy surround music.

Ordered up from my favorite store, Turn It Up! in Northampton. Will hopefully arrive by the weekend. I've already heard the Whirlwind disc and it sounds great!

BTW I love these particular lyrics in Stranger in Your Soul:

Notice how the last word of each line is the first word of the following line (or its homophone), and the lines ovelap, with each one being sung by a different vocalist (tag team style).

    Drink in the big dream
Dream but you have to wait
Wait till you get it right
    Write down every letter
    Paint with the broadest stroke
    Stroke through the deepest sea
See what you have in mind
    Mind to make it better
