Jack O The Clock - live in Vermont

I don't recall them playing the Northeast before (or at least not since I became aware of them).

The show is on Friday, June 14, at 7 PM, in Brattleboro
118 Elliot is the name (and address) of the venue (which appears to be more of an art gallery than a club).

It's a two-hour drive each way for me, but I'm planning on doing my best to make it.

Yeah I'm thinking of going to that. I believe they are now based in Vermont.

What's their performance lineup nowadays? Was there a replacement bassoon-player, and is the fiddler still in? Does Waitkus still loom about that hammer dulcimer? That's a friggin' -nasty/mean- instrument to master, I'd say. And then to utilize on such a carefully integrated distinction of formal ensemble features, sometimes even notching it to front or underneath.

Ready-go yet not-very-likely that they'll ever get to Europe on "tour" etc. But they're affirmatively one of my fave artists in music come 10-15 years and should have washed the grand earth utter clean not-were-it-for realities apparent and appendent.

I'm temporarily living in Brattleboro, VT but moving at the end of the month. What's a good place to start with these guys? It'd be a shame to miss a good band only 4 miles away from me.

The 2017 live album Witness provides a good overview of the band up to that point:

I’m coming around to the idea that Leaving California is their best album:

I think so too, and I dig the lot of 'em.

Initially All My Friends was something of a certified everlasting fave in my head, but now I tend to think of this as more of a Revolver vs. Pepper thing - and Leaving California being the gun of it. They absolutely blossomed to stricter and more concise arrangements of form and drive, orchestrations and instrumentation remaining safely in place of full scale intricate divide and the level of formal composition nothing but tighter for it.

Definitely one of my top-15 or so faves of 'modern artist Cunei' releases since the shift of millennia.

Start with Leaving California, but listen to the others as well. Really great band/artists.

How do you like Brattleboro as a place to live? I've visited at times from when I lived in NY but haven't been back since my time in the midwest. I remember thinking Brattleboro would be a nice place to call home. I'm envious now too because I really like Jack 'o the Clock and I would go if I were there. Leaving California hits home as that is my home state as well.

Jack O' The Clock is alongside PoiL and Mary Halvorsson my favourite "current" band. I would really love to see them live but that seems quite distant possibility.

Only an hour and twenty minutes away from me. It's our anniversary though, so not sure I can get to this show.

Might I suggest a lovely pre-show anniversary dinner at either Peter Haven's or T.J. Buckley's, both of which are on Elliot Street. Both are pricey but hey, it's your anniversary! Mazel Tov!

Truthfully, it's not for me. There are some nice areas in Brattleboro, but it's also kind of rough. It doesn't feel like Vermont like so many other cities do (think Montpelier, Burlington or Stowe) and it lacks northern New England charm. The downtown area is just depressing-and frankly, I wouldn't be alone at night on some of the streets. I do like the food co-op here and there are some decent restaurants. The Stone Church on Main Street has a few decent concerts sometimes too-a Mahavishnu Orchestra tribute band was here several months ago as well as a Tull tribute band. But I'm not going to miss it here. ;-)
