“Hey, but someone has to try oddball things, don’t they? Might as well be me...” - Ian Anderson

Ian Anderson’s solo albums explore different sonic landscapes and instrumental line-ups, each record in this boxset standing as a testament to his versatility. From the electronic experimentation in Walk Into Light and the profound narratives of Homo Erraticus, to the acoustic serenity of The Secret Language of Birds, these albums are a reflection of Anderson's unending creativity and his ability to seamlessly blend diverse musical styles into cohesive, captivating works.

A word from Ian Anderson on 8314 Boxed:
"Since 1983, I have made a few solo albums, not as dissatisfaction with fellow musicians or the group identity but usually just to try something a bit different, whether sonically, stylistically or in terms of instrumental line-up. These records all stand out for me as being quite different from each other and in some ways demonstrate a broader depth of my songwriting. The flute instrumental Divinities record is one of my favourites to this day.”

I wonder if the live material will be available as a standalone digital download for those of us who aren't vinyl fetishists and who already own the rest of the albums on CD?

Amazon has just discounted this release 10% for release next month. (2 weeks) The third-party seller adds $18.10 for shipping on top of sales tax! Maybe the downward price point will continue. It's Still Too Expensive.

I'd be perfectly happy with being able to fondle the digital download of the live stuff, but no sign of one so far.

The product has shipped. $3.99 to ship 10 LP’s is quite reasonable.

I bought this from Burning Shed, which was far cheaper than everyone else in the UK.

It's a nice set, with a big booklet that will take up some time to read through.

I already have Homo Erraticus on vinyl (The only Tull related album that I dislike, I just don't know why. There's something about it.) and an old copy of Walk into Light, so the rest is all new.

Haven't listened to TAAB2 for years, so really enjoyed listening to it on vinyl. Next up will be Divinities, which I haven't listened to for decades.

I can see why IA did some of these as solo albums, WiL is an experiment with synths, Divinities more like classical, and the other two are acoustic albums.

But TAAB2 and HE... don't sound any different to Tull albums, except they are missing MB.

Arrived today via UPS (days early….sig required). I’ll second the build quality of tha Madfish release. Sat and read the book in one sitting! I like the way they wove together the creation of these albums between Tull albums / tours. I had Walk Into Light on vinyl when released in 83… then later TAAB2 and HE. So, some overlap. Going through the lyric sheets I realized I have something from each of these albums in my Tull Playlist that I’ve been listening to for decades! Will look through the LP’s to see if there is a serial # for these sets…I see hand-etched numbers on each disc.

I was going to pass on this when first announced due to the high price……found the sale and jumped on it. Glad I did. Who knows, maybe y’all will be snagging a copy for 1/2 MSRP in a year…..but then again, remember all those Tull album cover art prints released a couple years ago?….they have Never been discounted.

Oh, and Jed? You’ve just been out-fondled!
