I'm a senior citizen, retired, 73 years proud. I saw Bowie at the Tower on the first Ziggy tour. I saw Mott the Hoople on the night before Bowie ever appeared in Philly invite David out on stage to sing All The Young Dudes. I saw Genesis at the same Tower theater on a Sunday afternoon on the first appearance in Philadelphia. I saw Yes in Wildwood opening for Jethro Tull, I listened to the same Yes in an interview with Ed Sciaky in the middle of the night after Ed had driven Yes back to Philly to radio station WMMR when nobody even knew who they were.
I could go on and on, point is, this is your time now, I never remember being afraid of getting older, I (we) just went on living our life the best we could taking whatever came our way. I realize that the obstacles you face seem enormous, but you just have to keep on moving forward and doing the best you can. You can't stop time and there is no need to. Keep pressing on one day at a time, stay in the minute you are in, live it to the fullest and try to enjoy the ride.
Here's one: Strawbs' "Out in the Cold". One of my favorites from "Hero & Heroine": "...But now I know how it feels to be old, out in the cold..."
The new(est) Galahad LP, "The Long Goodbye" addresses in the title track the issue of dementia and as such makes interesting use of Gabriel's lyrics from "I Don't Remember".
Peter Hammill - Autumn (and a lot of other songs).
Van der Graaf Generator - Go, Over the hill....
