There used to be a time when Inside Out released a standard version without the bonus track and a deluxe version with an expanded packaging and a bonus track. In this setting, I can see how the bonus track might be an incentive for some to buy the deluxe edition.
But nowadays they add the bonus track to every format of the album. Apparently, Inside Out artists are contractually expected to provide a bonus track. So they add a throwaway or a song that doesn't fit with their artistic vision for the album. What's the added value in this? Why not just release the album as intended by the artist without a pointless bonus track ?
