I got mine at Dusty Groove for $30.00 plus shipping. Ugh. I just checked and they're out of stock. It was a great price considering most dealers were asking $100 plus for the set.

after reading into this more, I'm not sure I want it.

I read that the original tapes weren't used, they worked from a master and added some reverb and some trickery to bring out certain parts. Worst of all, the atmos mix is an 'upmix' only and has limited, if any, rear channel activity.

anyone who has it care to chime in ???

First listen to the first two discs and compared to my 1996 One Way 2CD: Remastered sound: louder, more low end, better stereo separation and clarity. Essential? For a completist like me? Yes. A very, very enjoyable listen. And kudos for the booklet. It's a wonderful document on an otherwise rarely documented masterpiece.

On the Hoffman forum the consensus is that the Greek mix is a needledrop, but a good needledrop...

OK Thanks. Pulling out my copy.... I have the 1989 Vertigo German Import CD issue. Obviously I was on this album immediately when it came out on CD. I also have a 70's original vinyl pressing, one pressed in Chicago actually. So, the 1989 CD sounds pretty nice to me, doesn't make me think I need an upgrade. But then I put the vinyl on, and was expecting pops and noise, but holy Moses, this plays perfectly quiet and the audio quality is blowing my mind. Far superior than the silver disc. I'm floored. This is why I love this album. Maybe I'll have to find that Greek Vinyl out there.
