    Motorpsycho - Neigh (2024)

Looks like Motorpsycho isn’t releasing their new album on Compact Disk, even though it’s the most popular physical medium for music. I ain’t buying vinyl as I have no way to play it, so…it looks like it’s the free streaming route for this album. Too bad they couldn’t find a label that would release it (I cynically assume). On the positive side, I can listen to the album now! And it’s free.

A CD version is rumored to materialize at some point or another. I’ll probably download from BC while we wait.

I see the band has been going through some turmoil. Hopefully they come through on a CD soon… (drummer explosion)

Unfortunately this is becoming more and more common.

They recently announced that they will publish future albums on their own record label, and the online only publishing is one of the consquences, as they are still transitioning in their mode of publication (Details can be found here).

You are correct. I bought the download. No vinyl for me. But I will pay to hear it.

Bummed to learn that Vassbø will not be the band’s full time drummer, but I’m not sure if it matters too much if he still winds up playing with them.

A good and thorough account of what’s going on. I hope it works out for everyone involved (which, of course, includes us good folk buying what they put out!).

Yay! was released in three colors of vinyl and two colors of cassette. And on CD. For Neigh!, only one color of vinyl, and no cassettes either. I guess this is going to be a big adjustment for them.

I still haven't completely warmed up to Neigh. There are some very good songs. "Elysium, Soon" and "This Is Your Captain" both stand out (and, yes, I know I just picked the two longest and "proggiest" songs on the album). There seems to be a weight that's missing to the album. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Anyway. New single released a few days back.

It wouldn't feel out of place on, say, Blissard.

from what I can tell this is one of those B-side/outtake collections that dresses up like a regular studio album, its the first MP album since Child of the Future I didn't bother buying

the fact that they apparently started working on another one so soon is pretty telling imo. i mean these guys are always busy but i'm guessing whatever the 'next chapter' of the band is like, we'll find out with that one.

I think they're almost always working on something, right? The last year where there was neither a studio release or a live release was 2007 (according to RYM).

I have a lot of their albums but I can't keep up, esp. since they like to do the "super limited release for scalpers" thing.
