    Uriah Heep Announces Farewell Tour

I don't know about "progressive rock legends" but I suspect there's a few folks here who rocked out to Heep waaay back when and might not admit in 2024...Mick Box finally says uncle.

British progressive rock legends URIAH HEEP have announced the U.K. leg of their farewell tour, dubbed "The Magician's Farewell". The seven shows, which will launch on February 19, 2025 in Birmingham, will feature very special guests, Canadian legends APRIL WINE and U.S. melodic hard rockers TYKETTO.

    In case you forgot...

Wow. I saw them back in 2010 or so and while it was good it was also one of the loudest concerts I've been to. Sorry to hear they are calling it a day but then again no one can stick around forever.

I just saw them for the first time back in the spring and they were fantastic. This tour is supposed to last 3 years, so they are not going anywhere for a while.

I probably would consider them more hardrock than progressive rock, but I'm not affraid to admit that I rocked out on them, playing airguitar and airkeyboards.
I have their albums till Return to fantasy on CD. Missing their live-album.

I saw them only one time back about maybe 8 years ago and was pleasantly surprised at how good they were live with the lineup they had at the time. LOUD! Yeah they were loud and I could have enjoyed it more if they toned it down just a little and I doubt it would have taken away and of the power of the band. I still think Wake the Sleeper is an album as good as any of their early works. Go see them if you enjoy hard rock with great organ and guitar work.

About April Wine as one of the guest bands, they seem to still be around even after their founder and leader Myles Goodwyn died in 2023. It's nice to have them participating on this Uriah Heep farewell even if it is not for the whole tour.

I'm surprised Mick Box waited for that long after seeing all his bandmates from the halcyon era pass away: Gary Thain, David Byron, Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake. So now he is ready to leave and I'm sure during the tour, he will honor these great musicians who made massive contributions to the Uriah Heep Legacy.

Saw them for the Magician's Birthday tour ages ago in late 1973, Fallen Angel 1978 tour opening for Jethro Tull and in 2018 when they returned stateside after a very long absence. Was always impressed by Canadian singer Bernie Shaw who has been solid with the Mick and the band. Farewell Uriah Heep!

1972 Top of The Pops performance with several groovy young ladies confronting the reality that you just cannot dance to Uriah Heep although they did try..

Top of the Pops? It looks more like German television to me. ZDF is a German public television station.

    p!
The current version of April Wine has no original members, although Brian Greenway from what most people consider the "classic" lineup is still playing with them.
