A Second Past by Bill Bressler

My new album, ‘A Second Past’ released this week! It’s a Sci-Fi Prog Rock Opera about the perils of commercialized time travel.

So far the feedback I’ve been getting has been nothing short of stellar! Please check it out! It’s on Bandcamp https://billbressler.bandcamp.com/album/a-second-past and streaming.

Are you planning to issue on CD?

I'm curious about that too! From another inquiry I understood you're not doing a CD run right now, but hopefully there will be one in the near future.

I would love to do CDs but since I have about 200 copies of 'Normal Boy' sitting in the attic, it just doesn't seem financially smart at the moment.

Oh, and I do want to add that if you buy the album from Bandcamp, it comes with a booklet like what you would get with a CD.

Some CD manufacturers like DiscMakers will do CD runs as small as 100 copies these days.

I believe those are CD-R's at small volumes.

That could be. I admit l haven't checked into it closely.

I first noticed it a few years ago when I did "Axiom & Sigh" because I planned to only make about 150 CDs, mostly to give to friends and do some very light selling. And I actually didn't really like how DiscMakers handled it...I got all the way to the final checkout "Pay Now" before I noticed that my CD package had turned into a CDR package. After reversing back out and trying a few times I finally discovered that I think 300 is this implicit divide; anything smaller is automatically CD-R with no other option. So I got 300. And now I have a box of CD wallets in a storage unit that will likely never do anything but go to a landfill one day.

In my experience, sales of a CD-R release are lower than sales of a true red book CD.

I know it's not objectively universal, and there are others small artists who have a very different perspective and who may well feel it is worth doing physical media. All of this is just my experience/opinion as a small artist who has done CD, CD-R and digital releases.

Anyway, apologies for the tangent Bill!
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Not a problem. This is something I have been struggling with. I would never do a CD-R release. And there is such a small request for physical media (from me) at the moment, it just doesn't seem worth it.

Anyway, maybe this will drum up interest. I got my first review from Sonic Perspectives and it's a doozie!

Wow, congratulations! Great review! Nice to see that they dug into the detail of the concept as well as being quite complimentary to the music. I mentioned in the thread on the main page that l just checked out a couple of the tracks, it is excellent! My time is limited this afternoon but l will return to it later, for sure. It definitely deserves wider attention.

Well, I guess never say never! I’ve gone ahead to pull the trigger on a short CD run. Yes, they will be duplicated, not replicated but the quality is said said to be exact nowadays and the packaging is rather gorgeous with a 12 page booklet. Autograph upon request.
