    Jon Anderson's Marc Chagall project

Just saw this posted from Jon on his FB page "Jon Andersons friendship with legendary artist Marc Chagall has become a musical. It will hit the stage in the future. I am very proud to have written and perform some of the music. The show will have music that spans Jon's career. I know once released it will be a must see event."

I’ve had his 100-min demo album of these songs for years, but never really dived into it. Perhaps now is a good time.

This goes back to the early 90's doesn't it? I might have a bootleg of something, all that emerged was Chagall Duet on Change We Must in '94. One of the many Jon projects that came to nothing..

I too have a CD or two with music and ideas on there, but never explore properly. If I can locate it, I must give it another go.

According to my list I have this on a back up DVD somewhere, I might have a search...

Jon Anderson ‘Chagall’ (unreleased album sessions) 2CD 1987 - good studio recordings.

    Unfair.

I am not the world's biggest fan of Jon Anderson, but I don't think his projects, in general, "come to nothing." It's just that some of them take many years to come to a boil; consider the Uzlot project, which took, what, 29 years to finally appear as 1000 Hands Chapter One. Jon's problem is too much creativity, and maybe a little ADHD; he jumps from project to project, but he doesn't seem to actually abandon them. (I'm certain that some of them will remain unfinished at his inevitable death -- probably Zamran, for example, given the nearly-impossible expectations he has to live up to there.)

And many came to something. He has released 17 solo studio albums...

    This.

I have a friend who worked with Jon. Your points are accurate as far as I know…he never gives up on a project but they sometimes have a long path to release.

I read somewhere recently that Jon has 9 hours of unreleased music that he said he might release as a download. So we'll see.

I saw an interview with Anderson where he mentioned all the music he has planned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPvC6Ti8Q_0
In this interview he calls the Olias project The Path to Zamran

To answer several comments above, "Chagall" goes back to 1980. Anderson demo'd it then, but it was rejected by Virgin.

The graphic posted was from the 22 Jan 2023 performance by San Francisco Conservatory of Music students. There's a boot of this online. I think Anderson is just re-using the picture. He has talked of bringing it to the stage with William Quay Hays and Kelsey Grammar. (Yes, that Kelsey Grammar.)

Oh, hold on, this is on the Jon Anderson 1000 Hands Facebook page. So it's a message from Michael Franklin, not Anderson. The "I" in "I am very proud to have..." is Franklin. "WDMCF" from 1000 Hands Chapter One was included in the 2023 showcase.

Does Kelsey Grammar know about this?

And does he expect to get paid to be part of it?
