"Well we tried"
Almost up to 14 grand raised. I drummed up some orders on Reddit (my first post in years). Echolyn is probably the only band on earth I would have done that for!
Perhaps if pledges are slow they could post a video of them playing some material live to drum up enthusiasm on the web.
I think there's a math problem. They would pretty much have to sell out all 700 of the CD tier to reach their goal.
I think they'll make it. They're almost half-way in just a few days. Shriekback just did one of these for their 18th album, and I think they needed to reach the same amount in the same time, and they succeeded (I should say "he," as Barry Andrews is the only original member on this particular album), but it took them longer than this to get as far as Echolyn has, so it seems like they'll make it.
I ordered my 2 CD set. I’m excited to hear the new music. It’s been quite a bit since they began Working on it.

But the rate of orders will definitely go down from now on, as major fans who follow them on FB have pledged already. I hope the word spreads on prog sites, I'm sure there are many people who have enjoyed their music over the years and would pledge if given the news. Apart from FB and here, I haven't seen much coverage about it and I'm not sure this will allow them to reach their goal. A snippet in Prog magazine, or other like-minded websites, would go a long way to raise awareness.

^ You could be right - hopefully a lot of people are waiting for payday or whatever…
I can't preorder. Not sure where I'll be living by then.

They're way past demo stage at this point. As I understand it, the album is recorded and they need funding to have it mixed and mastered properly by the guy they've chosen, and then have the CDs pressed and distributed.
So in the worst case scenario that we don't want to think about, Brett could mix it himself as he's done before and they could release it in digital format only, as suggested.

I haven't listened to Echolyn, though I have heard lots of great things. I should start, and if I like them (likely), donate. Especially if I get a new job soon.

They've released two samples to backers so far. One's acoustic but the other is intermingled with what appears to be well-finished samples of a full band recording. It sounds great and I'm looking forward to the full thing.
Pledged for Tier 1. Honestly, I'll be happily surprised if they make it. That's a pretty big number.

I've stopped trying to figure it out, then. I could have sworn that I saw posts on their facebook page, saying that the album was finished being recorded well over a year ago. I know that they asked last fall, to the effect of, 'who wants new music in the Fall'? Maybe they've decided to try and upgrade the sound quality. All will be revealed in due time, no doubt.

Let's all assume the album is done, and they are just looking to recoup what expenses were, or pay past debts. I have to believe they are confident they will met goals or they have built in contingences if they do not think they can - as to fulfill their pledges.
