    New Jon Anderson Interview

I had a chance to chat with Jon today... He fills us in on his plans for 2025 (more Band Geek live shows and a possible new album), a look at some of the songs on their new album True and info on how the name came to be. Origins of the Firebird Suite as opening music, a look at his creative process, and some cosmic talk about the power of the universe. And more.... I tired to ask a few questions I haven't heard elsewhere. Hope you enjoy it.

Cool little interview, Sean! It's always welcome when an interviewer asks questions that go beyond run-of-the-mill. Now I'm just waiting for some of the others here to respond to the Circus of Heaven comment I'd like to have heard more about the long-awaited projects such as Zamran, Invention of Knowledge II, and others but understand that time was limited. Still, it's good to know that Jon & the Band Geeks will be on the road again next year AND that there may be a follow-up to True. Thanks for sharing this, Sean!

Woo! I look forward to listening to it.

I watched the interview. I'm so amazed that Jon is still making vibrant music at his age. You did an excellent job of asking great questions and demonstrating your knowledge of all things Yes and Jon. It was just the right timing. You must love talking to your musical heroes. I think True is an amazing album and you pointed out songs that impacted you. Great responses from Jon. It's interesting that Jon opened the door to discussing Yes. It was a casual conversion that flowed very nicely.

I'm surprised there is not more feedback on this thread. Bravo Sean.

I second this! I loved your interview Sean. As True is probably my favorite release this year in the progsphere (haven't listened to the new Beardfish as of yet) and the live gigs were fantastic, I'm happy to hear there will be more gigs and possibly more new music. But honestly if all we get is True, it's a remarkable achievement for a guy who turned 80 this year and the excellent musicians that make up the Band Geeks. As a Yes fan, I'm just happy they found one another. The live renditions of classic Yes music they play I like so much not just because the tempos are correct, but the Geeks add just enough individuality to their playing to make the music sound fresh again and not just a rehash by a tribute band.

Agreed, it's an excellent interview, well done! As an interviewer, I think you have a quiet manner that really puts your subjects at ease.

Great interview Sean, you could have gone on and asked almost anything and watching Jon come up with just the most wonderful answers, just warmed my heart. He is and always was so special. I found myself slipping into that special place that Yes has always taken me to, thank you and Jon for a really nice evening.

Very nice and relaxing interview, even if now for the 1st time we can really see J.A showing his age.
Very positive also, but could we expect anything else from J.A ?
This gave me the strong desire to see him live with his new band (if they ever come to Europe).
    Thank you for your post.

I finally got to this. Great job, Sean. Things got a little interesting at the end, IMO. Carlos Castaneda? That goes a long way back.
