Four Whitfield possibilities for your list are:

Rare Earth’s ‘Ma’;

The Temptations’ long version of ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’ and ‘Zoom’ (although these two fall under the category of psychedelic soul);

The Undisputed Truth’s ‘Ungena Za Ulimwengu (Unite The World)’. This, again, is psychedelic soul but don’t let that deter you.
