I like Armored Saint a lot, but somehow the great potential was never realised. Fate hit them hard in many ways.

Been sampling some Saxon today. Denim And Leather is a hell of an anthem. Hail the UK.

Great melodic metal! Just don't go past '88. Check out the song/video "Rockin' Again." A helluva hook. Also: "Nightmare," "Midnight Rider," "Just Let Me Rock," "Long Arm of the Law," "Power and the Glory," and this one:

In the 80s I saw Saxon open for Malmsteen. Saxon were horrible live.

Another band that I have only seen once as an opening act. They opened for Blue Oyster Cult on the "Power And The Glory" tour. I have a few of their albums, some I like better than others.

Their first album with Bush is their best, imo.

May have been an off-night. They seem to be a solid live act.

*shrug* I dunno...some of the funky metal bits had that feel. Even the singer's approach isn't that dissimilar (Patton can go from cabaret to monster growls on a dime).

    I still dig it
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Listening to another Manilla Road album.......Out Of The Abyss (1988). Great sounding album, and fast as hell. I didn't know Mark could play like that. It chugs at insane speeds. And it's not brickwalled like the more recent albums.

This came up on the stoner thread but it should also be heard here. A touch of Lemmy here

Are you thinking of 21st Century Schizoid Man? That's the one I recall them doing. It was certainly better than Ozzy's cover version.

I think I'm experiencing metal burn out. I played a cool pop song from 1976 for a break.

There's also the Japanese experimental rock band OOIOO.
And I have an album of a French Basque band Oļo but that ain't hardrock, or heavy metal.

I don't know what's funnier, the first statement or that Udo in fact recorded a tribute to Animal House.

Yeah UDO's first album is tilted Animal House. It's not bad but there's no bottom end at all. The guitars sound like buzzing bees.

The 35 minute break I took was listening to Gary Wright....The Dream Weaver. . I like it. I didn't know he was the same dude who sang Love Is Alive. Gary was a hell of a soul singer.

    Back To Metal........
