Revisiting Riot. God those guitars, those songs. I'm zeroed in on the Mike Dimeo era. Lots of great albums. Mike has a husky, powerful, soulful voice. Kinda Dio ish in some ways. Been going through Nightbreaker, Sons Of Society, Brethren of The Longhouse, Inishmore, etc. Just awesome, melodic metal with great guitar playing and singing.
Forgot to mention.....Army Of One, which is currently my favorite RIOT album. My God it rocks.
New Overkill. These guys rarely let me down.
Overkill are coming to a club near me on this tour. I saw them a few years ago when they toured with Symphony X and it was one of the loudest shows I have ever experienced. I have been to hundreds of concerts over the years and volume typically does not bother me, but about half way through their set I went back to the merch table and bought some ear plugs. It was so loud it was literally hurting my ears. When Symphony X came on they were not nearly as loud. I am not really that much of an Overkill fan, but they put on a good show.
That Overkill vid was devastating. Thrash up the ash.....

Go see it. Todd is a great front man and can hit all those high notes that Tate can't hit anymore. The band is still great. I saw them about two years ago and really enjoyed it. I have seen Queensryche more than a dozen times, and this was the best I have seen them in years.

I'll have to disagree with you on the "total crap" part. I love this album from start to finish. But then, I'm the kind of weirdo that loves both disco and metal...I've always thought it's a good combo.
I hear a lot of Survivor influence in the songs on this album. Just ridiculously catchy songwriting. The funny thing about Beast in Black (and the work the lead guitarist/songwriter previously did in Battle Beast) is that it's '80s retro, but it mixes elements in a way that no one would have actually done in the '80s. You never could have made a record like that in 1985.

How is it? I have been thinking about picking it up.
I've been listening to it on Youtube. It's great. Vivian Campbell is a monster guitar player. The lead singer is powerful. The opening track, The Devil In Me kicks ass. Check it out. It's worth buying. I might get it.
Been getting into the Priest the last couple of years starting with 'Screaming' and 'Defenders', then latest.
On trip to Phoenix picked up 'Stained Glass' and 'British Steel'. How do those sit in their canon? Haven't listened to them yet. Very late to the party.
Also picked up 'Book of Souls'.

Stained Class is considered probably their best 70s album. British Steel (imo) Is pretty good, mostly side one. Second half sags a little. That's just my opinion.
