Not sure which Crimson Glory album you are talking about, but their former vocalist Todd LaTorre has been lead singer for Queensryche for the past decade. I think Todd has an amazing voice.

While I just love Midnight's vocals on the debut album.

To be honest I don't think I have ever heard any of their stuff with him as a vocalist. I will have to check it out.

Aesma Daeva's Frigid Beauty is a quite proggy and even a bit avant Symphonic Metal, little known but which I enjoy a lot and find not so little underrated.

I was part of the drum faculty at the National Guitar Workshop. In the summer of 2008 I was teaching during the Rock Summit. Vernon was one of the guest artists that week. Everyone thought that he was going to use pre-recorded tracks to play along during his clinic. I finished teaching the day he was there at 4:00 p.m. and was walking my class over to the auditorium see his clinic. The Artistic Director ran over to me and said, "Rick! You're playing with Vernon. Go backstage right now." So, I went back and we chatted briefly about what we were going to play. Vernon went out and started his clinic and a few minutes later called me and the bass player (same situation for him) out and we were up there jamming. It was a good time. We all went out to dinner after and I chatted with him a little bit about his work with Ronald Shannon Jackson and Percy Howard. He was happy to talk about the lesser known projects.

    OK, bye.
    Waaaay cool.

I was referring to the one Mudshark had posted a link for which is Astronomica. I don't know if it's the same guy you mentioned (Todd) but the guy's voice had this high pitched screech that didn't appeal to me.

No, that is not Todd LaTorre. Crimson Glory has had 3 different vocalists over the years.

According to wikipedia more like four including the current one. However, apparently, they only have full length releases with two of them (the first two).

That is probably correct. I am far from an expert on these guys.

Every once in a while I have to come back to this. I love the original though with George on vocals (from Torture). Respect the neck! CC has definitely been my fav death metal band for a while now - the riffs are diverse, original, crazy, brutal, proggy, fun. The lyrics/subject matter is never boring, either. This stuff is uber complex musically and extremely difficult to play. It's metal but it's also prog imo. Check out a live album called Live Cannibalism...killer.

Andre Antunes (Portugal) has made a lot of similar videos you can find on YT, like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lO49ZY4tS2Y and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdAKkhS9gy4

In my world this is early, heavy metal. As heavy as Sabbath in 1974.

Not a fantastic album, but any album with Jack Bruce, and/or Leslie West has some brilliance.

I listened to about 30 seconds of that Indian Metal video and got outta there. Nightmarish. Not terrible but yikes. That had to be sped up.

Well, I'd say that Skymind is on borderline of Prog/Avant-garde Metal and something like Avant-Prog.

Maybe not heavy metal, but definitely heavy blues rock. My favorite from this album is Pollution Woman.
