Legendary!
This band made some of the most grim and evil sounding music to ever touch the earth.
Transcendent blackness
anyone remember Akphaezya?..well they're back after 12 years, coming out with a new album in October.

45 years ago today Iron Maiden, Angel Witch, and Samson played at the Music Machine in Camden Town, London. This gig gave rise to the phrase "New Wave of British Heavy Metal", first used in the headline of a Sounds review of the show.
Anyone familiar with this Canadian band Unleash the Archers? Kind of digging it
Does anyone know what's going on with Goatsnake? The Metal Archives listing has them as Active. Black Age Blues is now 9 years old. I remember when it was new. I have everything they released. Wanting more. I've started collecting bootleg concerts.
A random Youtube feed:
Never heard of 'em, but a nice cover of a Queen track from ANATO that's never talked about.
.
Alex Webster, ladies and gentlemen!
One of the guitarplayers is also a classical composer and studied flamengo-guitar.
New album, after a very long hiatus, from Black Pyramid:
Their sound has evolved quite noticeably, still coming from a stoner doom realm, but the compositions have become considerably more expansive, with more of a psych element. I like it - probably my favourite release in this area since the last Wo Fat album.
Played this album today. It's what heavy metal sounded like in 1970, in Texas.

From now on, whenever someone starts to complain about those harsh metal vocals I'm going to send them this

^ Love that!
Waltteri Väyrynen (Finland) is Opeth's new drummer. He is absolutely stellar. Chops, feel, groove, tone, fluidity, tempo, etc...this cat has it all and is really driving the band here. They haven't sounded this tight, even with Ax, for a while - and Ax is equally as amazing. Mike sounds great too. So pumped to see them live in October.
