In the 80s I saw Saxon open for Malmsteen. Saxon were horrible live.
Another band that I have only seen once as an opening act. They opened for Blue Oyster Cult on the "Power And The Glory" tour. I have a few of their albums, some I like better than others.
Their first album with Bush is their best, imo.
May have been an off-night. They seem to be a solid live act.
Just announced, Ukrainian band Jinjer will be opening for Devildriver this Oct/Nov. Honestly, don't miss it, they are amazing amazing amazing.

Listening to another Manilla Road album.......Out Of The Abyss (1988). Great sounding album, and fast as hell. I didn't know Mark could play like that. It chugs at insane speeds. And it's not brickwalled like the more recent albums.

Listening to High On Fire now because of Jerjo. It's the thrash version of Sleep. Eeeeesh it's fast and loud.......
Just heard Saxon's cover of Court of The Crimson King. Pretty good.

Are you thinking of 21st Century Schizoid Man? That's the one I recall them doing. It was certainly better than Ozzy's cover version.

I took a 35 minute break from metal. I am now listening to U.D.O.....Animal House (1988).
I don't know what's funnier, the first statement or that Udo in fact recorded a tribute to Animal House.
Yeah UDO's first album is tilted Animal House. It's not bad but there's no bottom end at all. The guitars sound like buzzing bees.
The 35 minute break I took was listening to Gary Wright....The Dream Weaver.
