Yes he was, he faked his death to be able to join DeM!

Not really similar, but Oxhuitza is all instrumental. Their debut wasn’t the best, but it has promise. I hope this band sticks around a while.

Also, Three Monks, if you like pipe organ. And Pandora, who are kind of like the male, Italian version of Ars Nova.

Don't know if he was mentioned in this thread, but I was impressed by Maurizio Di Tollo's L'Uomo Transparente.

You are right he's a great singer. However, responses go under the quote like this not above.

What with new Goblin, Cherry Five, Torre dell'Alchimista, Barock Project, Not a Good Sign, Unreal City, Nuova Era (!), Höstsonaten, RDM, Metamorfosi, Divæ (!!), Homunculus Res, Ingranaggi delle valle and Maxophone (!!!), 2015 looks like a serious rival for 2013 WRT years spotlighting a wealth of great new Italian prog! This is assuming all of these albums are actually released in 2015. I have some doubts about that.

Some of those might not be out in 2015, in the cases of Metamorfosi and Divæ it's unclear if there is release at all.

Unreal City will be out this week. Barock Project and RDM are as good as ready, so they might be out soon.
Altrock anounced a release batch at the end of January, so Not a Good Sign and Homunculus Res might
    be included (CdZ definetly is)

    Some short releases updates:

Unreal City new album out today!

Moogg have finished the recordings of their new album and enter the mixing & mastering stage now.

VIII Strada - although the new Album was anounced since several years now, they actualy havenn't started recording it yet. But they will do so from the end of this month.

Thanks TheH for these updates. Unreal City is autobuy and Moogg is buy the-second-it-leaves-the-factory (if I could). I really enjoyed their debut!

Have to agree with Progbear on the potential for 2015. Divae? My goodness, never thought we'd hear from them again! One of the best of the mid 90s for sure.

NaGS and HR will definitely be worth it. I’m still not sold on CdZ, though I did think the second album was a vast improvement over the extremely overrated first (some of it sounded authentically like 70s Italian prog, albeit by some kind of second-string band. I was actually reminded of the Corte dei Miracoli album at points, though not as good, of course).
