My Japanese favourites are
Far East Family Band (J) - Nipponjin (1975)
Flower Travellin’ Band (J) - Satori (1971)
Flower Travellin’ Band - Made In Japan (1972)
Osamu Kitajima (J) - Benzaiten (1976)
Stomu Yamash'ta (J) & Come To The Edge - Floating Music (1972)
Stomu Yamashta - Raindog (1975)
Bi Kyo Ran (J) - Bi Kyo Ran (1982)
Bondage Fruit (J) - II (1996)
Finally got the Japanese version of this new album by Electric Asturias. (Sometimes shipping from Japan is quick, but this time it took one month.)
Sounds great at first listening: massive, mostly instrumental progressive rock with classical and jazzrock influences. There's one vocal track, the closing Solace Of The Cged Bird.
Haven't seen it mentioned here: the new album by Lu7, called Charon Kalon, released January 2023.
Here's the title-track, which shows the band is in a more fusion-mood (the last one was their most jazzrock-ish), but there're still plenty of Holdsworthian solo's):
I've listened to the whole thing on YouTube and quite enjoy it. Haven't tracked the CD down yet though.
These guys have a new album out called - "Message from Moonbase". Laser's Edge had stock but ran out. I've only found a short sample but man, does it sound excellent:
You should give J-Metal girl bands a chance: Band Maid above a easy the best live band ever (look up the song Hate? on YT has to be seen to believe)
Another example Easr of Eden with lead violin by the adorable Ayasa (I'm a fan of her for years)
Singalong Ethno Groove? J-Pop? Harsh Metal? All of it!!!
Something very progressive in many ways just not Prpg :-) Never feel save with them
^^^^^
That was insane.
"And this is the chorus.....or perhaps it's a bridge...."
I found it at another site.
I've been playing both this and the first album. They're good, solid if somewhat unspectacular. They're not as "Ars Nova-like" as I'd thought from the one sample track I heard, which isn't a problem, but I'd have liked a stronger keyboard presence to add a bit more dimension to their music. The last track on Message from Moonbase features a guest keyboard player (from KBB, IIRC?), and it's probably the best track on the album - at least my favorite. The drumming is also a bit lackluster. Both albums sort of sound like stuff from the 1990s, albeit with better production.
I'm glad I discovered this band and got these, but Moonbase probably won't be among my very top albums for this year.

Another one just cause they are so much fun :-) Insane band, insane crowd !!!!
Well mega cool what a surprise

I've been psyched to see Black Editions reissuing stuff from the P.S.F. Records catalog over the last couple of years. I've always loved that label and I feel like most of the stuff Hideo Ikeezumi put out was really progressive (especially for Japan in the 80's). I know up thread Rye-Ergot posted about High Rise and White Heaven, but Fushitsusha and Ghost are great projects that started with P.S.F. and are a little less heavy and more traditionally proggy.
Not on PSF / Black Editions, but I think my fave from Ghost is the Drag City era record Hypnotic Underworld - love the track "Hazy Paradise"
Going back to P.S.F. - I was lucky enough to see Munehiro Narita from High Rise play with "Psychedelic Speed Freaks" in 2019 in L.A. I think he only played a couple shows that year and hasn't played since. I was too young to catch High Rise when they did their last tour of the US in 2000, so I was psyched to see Narita play live in any capacity. I picked up the Psychedelic Speed Freaks record at the time - which I really like! Very much in the vein of High Rise style shred-fest stuff.
I would love to see Black Editions do a vinyl reissue of the first Fushitsusha record...There was an unofficial reissue in 2016, but apparently the sound quality was terrible. I think Black Editions could do it right. But they seem to be really focused on the High Rise stuff - it looks like they're putting out another High Rise live album in September...but I'm not complaining. I love High Rise, too!

Ultra-Pump
I just got a notification of CDJapan that in October the new Dezolve will be released, called Asterism: https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/KICJ-874
I think (partly based on the CD-booklet of Mongol's album in which the same aliases are being used) this is the line-up:
bass: Ultra-Pump (Mongol,Negasphere,KIAT) = Naoto Amazaki
drums: Stamper (Mongol,ex誘精) = Kiyoshi Pochi-Imai
keyboards: Zetton (那由他計画,AQANESUSS) = Tsukada Madoka
guitar: Driller (Mongol,Noa) = Hirofumi Mitoma

I'd forgotten about the aliases. Obviously, it's been far too long since I've played Doppler 444.
