I saw the Harrison/Belew show last year in Akron, and it was so good that I'm going to double dip.

I saw Gaines opening for Squeeze a few years ago. I had never heard of him before, but enjoyed his show and bought a few of his albums.

Off to see the great young Scottish pianist Fergus McCreadie with his trio in Bristol tomorrow evening - augmented by the Manchester Collective, which I think will be a very intriguing departure for McCreadie's music.

(McCreadie is also the keyboardist in Graham Costello's Strata)

Thinking about seeing Blind Guardian in NYC May 12th. I didn’t know the PlayStation theatre is what’s now the Palladium.

Ann Arbor's EdgeFest announced their 2024 line-up this week. I haven't been outside of Canada since 2019 (pre-COVID) but it may be time to finally dust off my passport. The scale of this event (and FIMAV and Guelph) suits me more than mega-festivals like Big Ears.

    EdgeFest 28 - October 16th to 19th

Tomas Fujiwara’s 7 Poets Trio (with Tomeka Reid & Patricia Brennan)

    Brandon Seabrook, solo

Myra Melford’s Fire and Water Quintet (with Tomeka Reid, Mary Halvorson, Ingrid Laubrock, & Lesley Mok)

    Alexander Hawkins

Sylvie Courvoisier / Patricia Brennan Duo

Ingrid Laubrock Quartet (with Brandon Seabrook, Shawn Lovato & Tom Rainey)

    MOCH (Patricia and Noel Brennan)

Steve Rush/Steve Swell Quintet (with Molly Jones, Jonathan Barahal Taylor & Jaribu Shahid)

    Andy Milne/Ingrid Laubrock

    Francois Houle

Josh Zubot Strings (with Meredith Bates, Peggy Lee & James Meger)

    Andrea Wolper

    Ken Filiano/Joe Daley

East Axis (Gerald Cleaver, Scott Robinson, Kevin Ray, Matthew Shipp)

    Kenn Thomas/David Hurley/Zekkereya El-Magharbel

    Ken Kozora/Piotr Michalowski

Saw those Messthetics dates announced and was immediately bummed. Nothing near me.

But I’m seeing Mr. Bungle this weekend, so very much less bummed.
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.
