One-month post-surgery and I am already going through concert withdrawal. I had tickets to see Dawes tomorrow night and Jason Isbell Saturday night, but neither of those are happening. Everything is still on hold at the moment.

Next Music From Tokyo Vol. 16 was just announced for October. As usual I haven't heard of any of the bands, but that didn't stop me from attending each of Volumes 5 through 15 and subsequently buying more than 100 CDs from bands I first discovered on this tour.
Oct 4th - Toronto
Oct 5th - Toronto
Oct 7th - Montreal
Oct 9th - Vancouver
Oct 10th - Vancouver
As an added bonus, 3-time NMFT alumnus Mass of the Fermenting Dregs are playing in Toronto on Oct 3rd so I'll probably head down there for two nights.
Soft Machine at the Iron Horse 10/18
Jane Siberry at the Horse 12/2
So happy the Horse is back and now with reserved seating
Asia, Focus, Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash, Curved Air-We're flying out from the Bay Area to Milwaukee, Pabst Theater for the last tour stop. July 31st.
Full year update:
January – California Guitar Trio (Sellersville, PA)
February – John 5 (Lititz, PA) Well, it was close by
March – Big Ears (Knoxville, TN)
May – Al DiMeola (Glenside, PA) Philippe Saisse on keys
May – Dixie Dregs (Collingswood, NJ) Jordan Rudess on keys
August – Aristocrats (Phoenixville, PA)
August – Stick Men (Ardmore/Philadelphia)
August – Jerry Douglas Band (Their latest “What If” is an exemplary example of the Newgrass/Jazzgrass genre.)
Labor Day weekend – Progday (Chapel Hill, NC)
UPCOMING:
****!!! September 11 – Secret Chiefs 3 (Philadelphia). Apparently performing completely new Chiefs-influenced surf pieces, from an upcoming album by the “UR” sub-group. (I had thought that I’d heard somewhere that the next album would have been from the The Holy Vehm sub-group?)
November 15 – Animals As Leaders (Silver Spring, MD). “Joy of Motion” 10th anniversary tour.
November 23 – Consider The Source (Harrisburg, PA). New album later this month.
February – Marty Friedman (Annapolis, MD). I know . . . but I generally find his ear-candy riff to wankery ratio to be >1.
Considering Gong, David Cross, and the Beat Tour – if I the dates work.
Mahler Symphony 8 at Boston Symphony 10/4
Gong 10/13
BEAT 12/6
Big Ears - 3/27-3/30
Mogwai - 4/7

Not much on my radar right now. I was originally planning to attend my first ProgStock this year, but have some pre-surgical testing stuff scheduled during that time which will make it impossible for me to attend. Right now, all I have is:
Nov 7: Godspeed You Black Emperor – Elevation – Grand Rapids Michigan
April 4: Cruise To The Edge
I might check out Geordie Greep (from Black Midi) in February, but want to hear his album first.
Pretty great evening of folk metal coming up next spring, including rare Canadian dates.

I own and enjoy music from Korpiklanni, Ensiferum, and Nini. Trollfest is new to me.
