I'll second that. Bonus? White's best drumming of the 2000s. Agree with Kcrimso... Vortex is very good.

Torn, Jarn, Bozzio - Polytown - what's similar?

Sonar’s albums with Torn are fantastic, but you should also delve into Stephan Thelen’s Fractal Guitar albums. Stellar stuff.

    This too!

I don't understand how that happens. Here's another post of the same track.

Tooth Mother is brilliant! My favourite Mick Karn album. In fact I like it much more than Polytown...

I would love to hear the original mix from that album before Sylvian took over and made it into something that is good but less adventurous than the other musicians told it could have been.
Mick Karn called the original recording in his autobiography the "improvised" album.

This, along with the version of Viljans Öga we'd have got if the rest of the band hadn't thrown all Mattias' ideas in the bin, is one of the lost versions I regret.

Terry Bozzio, Patrick O'Hearn and Alex Machacek performed as OUT Trio and the concert of February 14 2002 (yes, 20 years ago) was released on DVD by Altitude Digital with Bozzio in 2004.

I have that DVD. Great concert. I wish they’d done an album of more composed material.

Polytown is in fact featured on the DVD The Music Of Jimi Hendrix when Karn, Bozzio and Torn (plus Howard Levy) play If 6 Was 9.
I couldn't find a clip from that track, but this one from the same concert is beautiful too: Mick Karn and David Torn with Cassandra Wilson performing Little Wing:

Yes, that would have been fine. I don't know if it would have sounded like Delete And Roll, the album Bozzio and Machacek made with saxophonist Gerald Preinfalk in 2002, the same year this concert was filmed:

I have that DVD too. Altitude Digital released a few other DVD's in that period. These I the ones I own:

Terry Bozzio: Live With The Tosca Strings
Terry Bozzio - Patrick O’Hearn - Alex Machacek: Out Trio
Drum Pad: The Drum Pad’s 20th Anniversary At The Vic Theatre Chicago, Illinois
Allan Holdsworth & Alan Pasqua Featuring Chad Wackerman And Jimmy Haslip: Live At Yoshi's Jazz & Sushi Club

I saw Polytown at one of the (I think 8) shows that they played. It was at First Ave in Minnesota. It was so awesome. Karn blew me away!
After that album Bozzio has never done anything that interests me.

In case anyone else liked the 2015 debut album "Letters to Thurza" by Birds From Fire, they have a followup to be released soon:

In an amazing coincidence, that's the day I bought it!

I think I recall a recent post somewhere that mentioned a further collaboration between Thelen and Torn, but damned if I can find it again.

I guess I wasn't clear, but by "further" I meant they have something new coming up. (If I can rely on my memory)

Edit: I found it, on Thelen's page:
Stephan Thelen is with David Torn and 6 others.

Sonar is back with a blast... "Three Movements," their new album with David Torn and J Peter Schwalm, mixed by Markus Reuter and Benjamin Schäfer, will be released later this year on 7d Media. More details soon.
