Nice haul, Lou (were those Schwetty Balls? )
So you cook with a crock pot? I gave my wife one for Christmas, but she thinks it's too big (it's a round 7 qt one). She also says there are ones that come with different sized inserts. What size is yours and does it work well for you? (I'm still on track here too!).
We would probably use it most for stews and roasts.
For the first time ever nothing. My wife and I usually spend the what amounts to the GNP of some small countries. Every year I list the 100s of crazy things my youngest and I get. Around the first week of Oct it occurred to me that our family has a lot of stuff and really doesn't need anything more. How many more guitars, Coach bags, pieces of Waterford, etc does anyone need? We have an awful lot already to be thankful for. This year we decided to do something completely different. We decided to skip all of our traditional XMAS fare including gifts, tree, decorations, family dinner, etc and took a another vacation to our favorite place, Disney World. Knowing how crazy we usually are no one believed we would do it. Here are some pictures of what XMAS usually looks like. This was just an experiment and not something we plan to do every year but will definitely do it again.

Did much more giving than getting. But the best stuff I got? A sweet Aquaman t-shirt and the Bob Dylan mono box set.
I can't make a joke to connect those two things together. Sorry.

Hi Eric, sorry so late in responding. My Mac is in the coldest room of the house, so I don't get online much these days of near zero temperatures. Tyler lives in Yangon. He's a partner with a college friend from there in various engineering enterprises.
Have you been there to visit your brother? If so, what's it like and how far in advance do you have to plan such a trip? My wife, mom, and I are thinking of going this coming fall/winter or the following spring.

Looking forward to my day in court.
Not Schwetty Balls, but almost like Chocolate Salty Balls.
Love the crock pot. I've cooked a pork butt in it and made pulled pork. Just put the butt in by itself and the pot did the rest. I did turn it over once as the top of the butt started to get a bit dry (I swear I'm still on track here). Also have done beef stew, BBQ'd left over roast beef, and a fish stew. All came out so good. I start them around 8 or 9 in the morning and by 4 or so in the afternoon, they are ready. Mine's a 6-quart oval one, and it's plenty big enough, maybe too big as it's just wifey and me in the house. Lots of left overs for lunch at work. You can go online and get plenty of recipes. Works real well with tough cuts of meat.

Funny, no music for me this year, but that's okay....I'm swamped with stuff.
I got two whiskey glasses (Glencairn canadian) and bought two nice double Old Fashioned glasses, as well...and also got a bottle of Oban, and a bottle of Springbank's 10 year old. Both winners. Haven't had Oban in decades, and that shit is soooo good! Forgot how good.
Also, re crockpot........Guiness Beef Stew for the win! I make it every couple of months, in the crockpot, and it is the bomb. If you like root veggies, that is....parsnips, turnips, carrots....
I also made a Beef Burgundy in there once, that was pretty awesome.
Oh, and my daughter got me a scarf--a really nice one, and my son gave wifey and I a gift certificate for dinner at Dead Fish.
When I BBQ pork, my crockpot mixed baked beans is a must. When a neighbour roasts a whole pig or the church has a function, crockpot mixed baked beans are a requirement.
Lou, when doing the pulled pork, try putting in a 1/2 cup of root beer. Adds moisture and the flavour is improved. You can use Dr. Pepper also.
