Oh wow. I remember seeing that like 20 or more years ago, probably haven't seen it since those days. I remember the line about 1984 era, about "the lineup changing too frequently to keep track of".

Who is who and what do they play. Do you know?

    Never would have expected Auroville.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.

It's a piece by Michel Graillier (RIP), Magma pianist from 1974-76.

Steve- Calyx beat me. The new singers all were part of the Zess record and all are accomplished singers in their own right. I profess lack of familiarity with Thierry Eliez and Jimmy Top (outside of the fact he is Jannick's son). There is a brief clip of the new band playing Troller Tanz on their FB page. Herve is still there and Rudy's hair is longer now, so it is hard to make him out. Top plays a 5-string bass, though, which may extend the bass range for some songs.

    Eliez:

    And he sings as well.

    Sylvie Fisichella:

    Sandrine DeStafanis and Laura Guarrato:

Interesting all the new singers are mainly those singing vocalese! But then, so does Herve.

I was surprised to learn that he doesn't tune his bass in fifths (like a cello) like his father and Bussonnet both did (not sure if Paganotti and the others also did ?). I assume the fifth string is lower in pitch, so he should get the full range required to play the music.

Typically a five string bass is tuned BEADG, or sometimes EADGC. If he's doing the former, that would give him the ability to get that third that's present in fifths tuning (CGDA) that's not present in normal 4 string bass tuning (EADG).

A stage recording of the Toulouse concert from november 1972 has finally surfaced on DIME. Hitherto uncirculated afaik.
This is a rare document of a transitional line-up (Lembert on bass), and includes performances of "Dotz Hundin" and "Klaus Kombalad".

Wow, great concert. And a fantastic to hear Dotz Hundin as an entire track, not just a snippet from the movie. Thanks Hanwaker!

Just saw that Magma has teamed up with Chassol to release a 45rpm disc in honor of Record Day in France. This is intriguing...

Let's hope my favorite recordstore in Delft has survived the 1.5 meter (6 feet) economics in September.
