Did it really need another remaster?
In other news, looking forward to hearing James Mac Gaw's solo album which is coming out next Thursday.

A remaster can't do much to solve mixing issues; what Magma needs is a bunch of remixes. I don't think they still have the master tapes for the pre-Merci stuff, so there's that, but they should have the original files for K.A and beyond.

How about Theater Du Taur instead?
Or the Kohntarkosz trilogy performed live on CD?
Any idea what the bonus track is?
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

I'm only here to reglaze my bathtub.
^^ Nice!

The instrumentation is awesome (as is the piece itself) but those lead vocals are a bit of an acquired taste...

James record is superb and not at all what I expected. Do you know who is playing with him on this? Sounds like Bubu on bass, and maybe Gleizes or Jondeuhr? Who is singing?
I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.

ok, that is a pretty cool bonus. anyone know if this is coming out on vinyl?
IMO those albums aren't really in need of a remaster - it's the studio albums that need a new mix. crazy to me that their most famous album is one in which you can barely even hear the drums!

I dont think that will ever happen. There is no master tapes available.
But a remastered version exist, and it is slightly better

Probably not.
The Studio Zund versions from 2008 are the same masters as the individual CDs on Seventh records from the 90's.
For MDK, it's a bit more complicated : the first CD edition from 1988 was a needle drop (and included a bonus track).
This has been replaced by the aforementioned editions, now superseded (one hopes) by the current 2017 remaster.
There is also another edition of MDK, released in 2009 by Mercury in a vinyl replica sleeve. This is worth looking for, as
it appears to use a different, warmer sounding iirc, master (the performance is the same).
