It seems that there will be a RTL broadcast from Jazz à Juan on 16/7 (20h-22h), which may include some of Magma's concert, and most likely no Crimson, but who knows ?

Saw this from a friend on FB, a reliable source, any corroboration?

I heard that Magma fired their bassist (Philippe Bussonnet), their keyboard player (Jérome Martineau-Ricotti), and their vibes player (Benoit Alziary) last week.

This was confirmed by multiple people who are close to the band.

Does anyone know why this happened? Especially before the start of a big tour.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

    Funny how confidential information isn't.

Yes, sadly this seems legit, but there is another part that hasn't been mentioned which I find dubious, it's that Bussonnet's replacement would be... Jannick Top's son. I thought the whole thing was a bad joke at the start, maybe that part is, or maybe it's all true. In any case, with Bussonnet goes my favourite member of the band, so it's really awful news.

    It's a miracle.

I was wondering who that "reliable" source might be. It could only be... and indeed it is him. He was also very active online during the Borghi scandal.

Same thread says replacements are Simon Goubert, Jannick Top's son and the third new member is a keyboard player named Thierry Eliez

So it's a two-keyboards line-up with Simon possibly doubling on drums for some numbers ?
Thierry Eliez is an interesting keyboard player - he did a very interesting tribute to Keith Emerson (I watched the 2016 concert on the VOD site for Le Triton).

Interesting, of course I know Goubert from Offering and related. I think I heard of Eliez who I think played with
Lockwood and a lot of guys from the Chancon scene (Hallyday, Aznavour).

Anyone knows how good Top Jr. is?

What is Chancon? Chant con? (that literally means cunt song!) Or did you want to write Chanson? (I know, french is hard! Sometimes c sounds like s, but not in this case!)

Wait. What? What? This is horrible news. Where is the thread for this? What does the Seventh Records site show? THat just leaves Stella and Christian, Isabelle if she is better and Rudy?

This isn't official at all. The news leaked. Probably not what Stella or anyone wanted. But you can't swear everyone to secrecy - once the news reached certain people, it is inevitable that it ends up in the public domain sooner or later.

As for Top Jr., nobody seems to even have been aware that Top had a son. I for one was blissfully unaware of his existence - never suspected there was someone in the wings patiently waiting for Bubu to jump/get pushed, secretly practising the Magma basslines on a cello-tuned electric bass...

Yes, this is sad, shocking news. And as far as I'm aware it came as a complete surprise to the principals. (Not that personal relationships within Magma haven't had their ups and downs but...)

    Strange.
Interesting if CV is just recruiting new soldiers, or recruiting sparring partners...

Herve, yes. Sorry, I am too shaken by this news. This just sucks! Phillipe has been with Christian for more than 25 years. Closer to 30, maybe. What the hell happened, Calyx? Benoit? Jerome? Hell, I knew something was up, just because, y'know, Zess. Oh, not happy at all!

Somebody posted in a Finnish prog fans' Facebook group that he had received an email from Bussonnet about this in December 9th, but was wondering if it was really true because there had been no official announcement about it, and he thought it was a bit strange that Bussonnet was telling this to a random fan who had just swapped email addresses with him a month ago after the Stockholm gig (and this was the first email he got from him).
